DIY eBooks! A Workshop
This day long workshop is being held as part of the 2012 CALI Conference for Law School Computing. Workshop attendees will spend the day turning existing files into an ebook that will be usable on any number of devices. Please note that this is a rather technical hands-on workshop and it will be limited to 20 participants. Please be sure to read the requirements below. You must be a registered attendee at the conference to sign up for the workshop. Sign ups for the workshop are on a first come, first served basis.
The workshop will be held from 10:30 AM until 5:00 PM. Those who sign up for the workshop will be expected to participate in the entire workshop. Dropping in and out during the day will not be permitted.
Requirements:
- Laptop (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Download and install Calibre before arriving in San Diego ->
- Download and install Sigil before arriving in San Diego ->
- Download and install LibreOffice before arriving in San Diego ->

Bring at least one Word, LibreOffice or HTML Document to turn into an eBook.
- Document should be at least 100 pages long.
- Examples: course materials, law review volume, US Code, or something else.

If possible bring a document with:
- table of contents
- cover
- footnotes
- images in the file
- If your document does not have a cover or images, don’t worry, just bring some jpeg images with you and someone can assist you in inserting them into your document.
- Optional: Bring any tablet, ebook reader or smart phone that you own.
- Please do not bring any multi-media files other than images. The software we are working with is not designed to create books that include audio or video.

CALI reserves the right to cancel the workshop if fewer than 5 conference attendees sign up for the workshop.
