Transforming The First Year of Law School with TheFirstYear Project: A Cognitive Approach to Blended Learning in Legal Education
In order to design effective videos for use in a blended classroom, we can turn to multimedia theory to inform our development. Our approach has been validated by our successful flipping of the first year Contracts course. We're leveraging our educational design team to create TheFirstYear.org, an ambitious, open resource for faculty and students to blend, flip, and supplement their first year of law school. By attending this presentation you will:
- Learn about our Cognitive Approach to Blended Learning in Legal Education (CABLE).
- Understand how we apply the intersection of instructional design, learning science, and technology to our videos.
- Hear about a practical framework that we use in designing blended learning videos
- Learn about our creation of TheFirstYear.org and how to contribute to it.
- Not be bored. I'm a passionate, animated presenter! :)
The slides I used are now available. Also, if you missed this presentation, the multimedia version can be found on YouTube.
Visit TheFirstYear website for more information on the project. Also, please contact me if you're interested in contributing a script or two.
