Restaurants
Here is Jim Mumm’s list of restaurants in the downtown area, including the distance from the law school.
For vegan-friendly restaurants check out these suggestions from Julie Norton:
Beans & Barley
This is a casual, vegetarian friendly restaurant on Milwaukee’s East Side. Tasty vegetarian dishes include any one of the many variations of Beans’ burritos, the balsamic tofu sandwich, and the walnut burger from Wisconsin’s historic Trempealeau Hotel. The restaurant is small and there may be a wait.
Price Range: $5-10

Roots Restaurant and Cellar
It offers two organic restaurants. Roots Restaurant, on the top level, is a fine dining establishment while Roots Cellar, on the lower level, is a casual eatery. Both restaurants boast a farm-to-table approach with fresh vegetables from Wisconsin farms, including the nearby farm of the restaurant’s owners. The vegetarian options, though limited, are delicious.
Price Range: $10-30 (the Cellar has less expensive options)

Honey Pie Café
Located in Milwaukee’s Bayview neighborhood, it sports Midwestern style (in other words comfort) food made from local meats and produce. Many of the sandwiches are vegan or vegetarian or can be made to be vegan or vegetarian. Stay for the pie! The restaurant has recently won several awards, including Milwaukee Magazine’s 2010 Best of Milwaukee.
Price Range: $8-20
