This presentation will review what online presence is and how it reflects on you as a professional AND as an individual. The power of online presence is amazing: it can land you a job, promote your brand, and provide a channel to demonstrate one’s skills OR it can be an embarrassing reminder of what not to do. The role of social media vs. traditional media will be discussed as well as best practices including: information ethics, time management, building online profiles, balancing personal and professional connections and sharing online presence management skills with the next generation of online users. As information professionals it is imperative we teach the importance of online presence to law students, especially as they enter the professional world and inform faculty on how to best manage their professional online presence.
