21st Century Courtroom Technology, Successes and Challenges

Courtroom technology has rapidly evolved over the past several years.  While this innovation has presented many exciting opportunities to utilize technology in the courtroom to do things that were not possible before, growth of this magnitude in a relatively short amount of time has posed some IT related challenges.  
During this presentation, we will explore two courtroom builds/renovations, a Trial Courtroom and Moot Courtroom.  The Trial Courtroom was built from the ground up and completed in 2011.  It includes groundbreaking technology that, among other things, facilitates the interactive displaying of exhibits, provides robust multi camera recording options, and incorporates technology to engage/disengage observers and jury members as needed.  The Moot Courtroom was built with the law school in the 1970's and has undergone several renovations since.  The most recent technical upgrades addressed deficiencies with video, sound, and usability.
The presentation will examine the planning, contractor selection, implementation, and training phases of these projects.
