Learning from Mistakes

My Top Ten Mistakes in Using Technology in Teaching
This session is premised on the idea that recognizing and correcting a mistake is one of the most powerful tools for learning (and, perhaps also that confession is good for the soul).  While we can benefit from learning about each others successes and best practices in teaching, there is a peculiar benefit to learning from the worst of our experiences as well.  My thirty years of teaching has been sprinkled liberally with attempts at using technologies: from VHS tapes to streaming video, from overhead projectors to Powerpoint,  and from Scantron machines to clickers, In this session, I will share some of my major missteps in using technology to teach and invite audience participants to share their insights from the school of hard knocks in the hopes that we can all avoid the next big mistake.
