Empirical legal research is becoming increasingly important in law schools across the U.S. While many faculty and students are conducting empirical studies, few law schools and law libraries have programs in place for data curation—organizing, storing, and providing future access to original, in-house data sets. This program will discuss the following:
The need for data curation at law schools;
Obstacles to data curation;
Existing data curation efforts at law schools and universities;
Current approaches to data curation;
Ideas for starting a data curation program at your institution.
