Video Conferencing for Legal Education

Speaker(s):

The Rutgers University School of Law Camden and Rutgers University School of Law Newark are going to merge this year. The two schools are in two different physical locations, yet students from both locations are going to take some courses which are going to be physically held in one location. The solution? Video conferencing. Rutgers University has spent millions of dollars to build smart classrooms that could bridge the gap between the two physical locations and allow students to be educated virtually while maintain the quality required by the ABA. This program will discuss a wide variety of video conferencing solutions which have been explored and implemented by the schools, such as Lifesize, Clearsea, Skype and MS Lync. From million-dollar Polycom immersive classroom solution to inexpensive Webcam plus laptop solution, this program examines and explains the pros and cons of each solution. The presenter will also discuss content delivery and share methods used by the schools to deliver presentations and course materials for video conferencing.
