Is this thing on? Using your video management system to go beyond basic lecture capture
Speaker(s):
Lecture capture systems are great for recording classes - a couple of clicks and students get instant access to videos, slides, and more. But these systems are capable of handling even more interactive projects. In this session, we’ll discuss how we used the Panopto video management system go beyond basic lecture capture, including:
- Welcome to class! - recording short videos to introduce faculty and their classes to students
- Flipping the classroom, the extreme version - making prerecorded lectures that allow classroom time to be dedicated completely to simulations
- We record you - using Panopto to provide “real time” feedback for students on their in-class performance
- No laptop, no problem! - creating audio recordings in Panopto for a class where laptops are not allowed
We’ll discuss the pedagogical reasoning behind these projects, how we integrated an team of IT and library staff to create recordings, what worked (and what didn’t), and student and faculty reactions.
