Professional Reading without the Reading! The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

Speaker(s):

We know that spending time on professional reading is important, but it often gets pushed to the bottom of our long to-do lists, and stays there. Who has the time to find and digest innovative books when so many urgent matters vie for our attention??  This session offers professional reading… without all the reading!  Participants will hear a concise presentation of the ideas from a bestselling business book, and, throughout that process, get a chance to engage the material with the presenter, and with each other. In less than an hour, participants will explore several key ideas relevant to practicing their profession successfully, and will consider how they might integrate those ideas into their work.

In this session, we will explore the bestseller, The ONE Thing, by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.  Keller and Papasan open the book with a Russian proverb: "If You Chase Two Rabbits You Will Not Catch Either One." That is a very fitting synopsis of this book's premise. Managing attention and focus is one of the hot, new topics in productivity literature today. The ONE Thing takes on that topic, countering many of the "lies" of conventional wisdom that still find their way into mainstream productivity literature, and into our own ideas about how to do our work successfully.

This topic is suitable for any human being, no matter where you are in your career!
