Introducing Wordpress
In this session I'll cover the basics of getting started with WordPress from site setup options, to core features, add-on options, and where to find training and support. I'll mention resources provided by CALI, free and paid resources, and how to choose which option works best for you.
If you're already an advanced user or developer familiar with WordPress, I hope the materials from this session may be useful training resources if you're asked to support new users.
my background:
At Chicago-Kent, I offer "managed hosting" for WordPress sites for our faculty, staff, and student organizations. I also offer training and support to help them each group of users select the best designs and features to meet their goals.
Outside of work, I've set up WordPress sites for several nonprofit organizations, my own food blog, and my brother's wedding. Some have involved complicated customizations, some have been basic "out of the box" options configured to match the needed content.
I have also been an organizer for WordCamp Chicago since 2012, a locally organized conference offering training and resources for WordPress users and freelancers.
